The entrance gully of Hillocks Mine Today, Ed, Ian, Pete and Martin had a very pleasant trip down Hillocks Mine at Monyash. (Part of the Knotlow/Hillocks Mine System which is about 1.25 miles long.) Martin was surprised to see no-one else at the Knotlow Triangle despite it being Easter Sunday. After Martin had showed the others the shaft tops of Knowlow and the top of Wharf Mine, they all got changed in the Hillocks entrance gully. All were impressed by the entrance series, the Coffin Levels, the size of the chambers and the amount of walking. (A nice change!) The two pitches were most enjoyable and the weather was lovely. (Though a little windy.) Martin stopped off at the Charles Cotton in Hartington for a pint of delicious Hartington IPA on the way back to Wetton. (The others didn't.)
