Today Martin Milner and Pete Ray established a bypass to the 3rd pitch by removing a number of rocks of various sizes from the base of the 2 metre deep pot opened up the previous Sunday. Soon after work on this was started, Martin noticed a continuation in the far corner, partially blocked by boulders, into a much larger passage. While Pete worked from above, Martin descended the 3rd pitch and climbed up the aven between Glory and Prospect Chamber where light contact was quickly established with Pete. He then installed a handline to assist on the awkward exit from Prospect Chamber before climbing up the aven towards Pete and using a crowbar to assist the final enormous rock out of the way and down the aven. A handshake confirmed the connection. Martin then ascended and de-rigged the 3rd pitch and went back down the pot to join Pete, who by now had dug a way through into a small triangular chamber which he named Glazebrooke Chamber after his deceased mom. In the far corner, Martin squeezed down into a small passage which immediately revealed the new handline just a metre or so away, so establishing an easier way in and out of Prospect Chamber. (Typical!) In another corner, next to and under a large block a new 6m (20ft) pitch, Surprise Pot was discovered. (Named as such for obvious reasons!) After installing a ringbolt, it was laddered and descended into a 10m (30ft) stretch of sizeable streamway up to 6m (20ft) high. Upstream led under Moonmilk towards Riverside and downstream is going towards the passage under Prospect Chamber Eddie Potter and Martin discovered on the previous Sunday. Martin named it Prospect Streamway as it obviously had prospects for extension and was heading under Prospect Chamber. It looked very promising for extending the streamway towards the Toboggan Run, etc. requiring a number of rocks in the floor of the streamway, (thrown down from the above chamber while trying to find the safest way down), to be re-arranged out of the way before progress dowstream can be made.
